Scaffold Beams
Scaffold beams ensure scaffolding safety, which is why they need to be quite durable. Scaffold beams come in several different types based on the particular needs of the customer.
You will find scaffold beams of these types:
- Aluminum beams
- Ladder beams
- Unit beams
Aluminum beams are ½ the weight of steel beams for easier transport. This is a way to save on alternative materials with performance being compromised in any way. Here are some specs regarding aluminum beams:
- They are 1/5 times stronger than a steel beam, although they are lighter in weight
- The BRE has independently tested them
- The technical data sheet for the aluminum beams are provided upon request
- A 4 bold spigot system is used to connect the beams
Ladder beams make for a clear span between scaffolds. The centre to centre rungs are 305mm and the beams are 305mm deep. They are constructed from high tensile steel and the saddles are welded at each joint for better security. You can get a painted or galvanized finish. You will find ladder beams in different lengths and weights:
- 3.353m with a weight of 25kg
- 4.877m with a weight of 45kg
- 6.400m with a weight of 65kg
Unit beams also provide a clear span between scaffolds. They are the pre-fabricated framework you see on temporary buildings. They have the tensile bolts, washers, and nuts supplied and come in different lengths and weights:
- 1.8m with a weight of 30.1kg
- 2.7m with a weight of 40.5kg
- 3.6m with a weight of 51.6kg
There are also joint pins, beam spigots, and beam fixings that are available for scaffold beams. This ensures the continuous working of these beams and increases the safety that they offer. For instance, joint pins come with various spans and point loads to accommodate the scaffold beam that you are working with.
Your beam fixings provide you with the tools that you need to fix any issues that come about with your beams. If you have certain bolts that fail, you can take care of the issue with no problem.
